The hotel room of the future

Philips is touting this as the future of hotel windows: a natty display panel that mimics the outdoor world and responds to the hotel guest’s ever wishes. Feeling jetlagged after a long flight? Then day shall become night in front of your very eyes. Tired of yet another dreary cityscape? Then virtual foliage and a forest ambiance will appear from nowhere.
 
We could do with some of these ‘windows’ in our new Victoria Place office in London. The hot-desk area is devoid of any natural light, and while this innovation from Philips is no substitute for the ‘rich in vitamin D’ qualities of the real sun, it might go some way to brightening up this busy telecommuter’s day.
